Story, Process & Overview

Our Story

1964 – Foundations in Cold-Roll Steel Engineering

Hadley’s origins trace back to a small Birmingham rolling mill founded by Philip Hadley Snr. The business specialised in precision cold-roll forming, establishing a manufacturing and engineering expertise that continues to shape our systems today.

1980s–1990s – Building Capability for Construction

Through strategic investment in roll-forming lines, tooling expertise and in-house machine development, the business strengthened its technical foundations. These decades formed the backbone of the engineering capability on which today’s building-product systems rely.

2000s – Expanding to Support a Growing Industry

International expansion enabled broader capacity, greater resilience and the ability to support construction partners working across increasingly technical and large-scale projects.

2014 – Innovation Recognised

Hadley Group received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation, acknowledging significant advancements in cold-rolled steel technology and performance.

The Formation of Hadley Building Products

Hadley Building Products was formally established as a dedicated division within Hadley Group. Its purpose: to focus solely on the needs of the construction sector by unifying three specialist system families under one coordinated offer:

This structure allows Hadley Building Products to deliver engineered, lightweight steel systems with the clarity, speed and technical support construction teams need.

Recent Years – New System Innovations

Hadley Building Products has expanded its product range with systems such as UltraMEZZ®, UltraZED® and UltraBEAM®, designed to improve structural performance, optimise installation speed and support high-efficiency project delivery.

Today – A Specialist Division for Modern Construction

Hadley Building Products now supplies a unified portfolio of engineered steel systems for internal, external and structural applications. Supported by integrated design, manufacturing, logistics and technical teams, we help construction professionals build faster, reduce waste and achieve reliable performance on site.

Our Process

Our process ensures clarity, efficiency and confidence from the moment a project begins. Whether supporting architects, main contractors, installers or specifiers, we work as a technical partner throughout the full project lifecycle.
1. Initial Contact / Enquiry

Customers reach us through the website, phone or by submitting a project brief. Our sales and estimating teams capture key requirements such as performance criteria, programme, budget and site constraints. Early guidance helps determine whether Drylining, SFS or Purlin/Mezzanine solutions are the best fit for the scheme.

2. Design & Specification Support

Our technical and design teams confirm fire, acoustic, thermal and structural requirements, producing detailed specifications, drawings and bills of materials.
For Purlin & Mezzanine applications, tools such as DesignSuite Pro enable precise optimisation and compliance validation.

3. Manufacture & Production

Once approved, projects move into production across our cold-roll forming lines. Profiles are cut, punched, finished and inspected under strict quality-control processes supported by recognised certification bodies such as UKAS and SCI. This ensures performance meets or exceeds the required standards.

4. Logistics & Delivery

Products are packaged by project and supplied in custom lengths to minimise waste and reduce time spent cutting on site. Deliveries are coordinated around programme needs, with just-in-time sequencing available to support efficient site logistics.

5. Installation & Site Support

Installation is carried out by contractors or installers, supported by HBP’s technical team. Our specialists assist with tolerances, connection details and performance requirements to ensure smooth installation.

From first enquiry through to delivery and after-care, our people and process work together to deliver steel systems that are precisely engineered, efficiently manufactured and reliably supported on site.

Overview

Hadley Building Products: Engineering for the Construction Industry

Hadley Building Products unites three advanced steel system families – Drylining Systems, Steel Framing Systems (SFS) and Purlin & Mezzanine Solutions – creating a single, specialist partner for the construction sector.

With decades of cold-rolled steel expertise behind us, we build on the original Hadley engineering heritage while focusing entirely on the needs of modern construction. Our systems are designed to reduce weight, improve build speed, streamline logistics and support sustainability through reduced waste and recyclable materials.

We work with architects, contractors, specifiers and installers across residential, student accommodation, commercial, industrial and mezzanine projects. Every system is backed by rigorous testing and performance data across fire, acoustic, structural and thermal criteria.

As part of Hadley Group we have the scale and manufacturing strength of a global engineering business, yet Hadley Building Products operates as a dedicated division focused purely on building-product systems: engineered, scalable and driven by construction outcomes.

At Hadley Building Products we believe in people and process. Our experts, production facilities and logistics network exist to make your project run smoother, faster and more reliably.
